An investigation has been launched by the State Police to find out the cause of the devastating fire, which broke out in a nine-storey house apartment on Sergeja Eizenšteina Street, Mežciems, Riga, on Saturday, November 7, according to the program “Degpunkta”.
Numerous tankers of the State Fire and Rescue Service arrived in the yard of the 71-storey multi-storey building on Sergeja Eizenšteina Street in half a day. The ninth floor apartment burned with an open flame. Rescuers evacuated the residents and at the same time tried to enter the burning house.
“I don’t know if it was a staircase, but it was up to the 9th floor. The other car was in the yard, and there were water hoses along the edge of the stairs. I was told there [dzīvoklī, kurā izcēlās ugunsgrēks] There was one old woman, 90 years old, but I never saw her because she didn’t come out of the house, ”says the victim of the eighth floor, a neighbor of the victim.
The honorable age lady was successfully protected from the danger of death by firefighters and handed over to doctors.
Accompanied by the services, a resident of the eighth floor was also rescued. In total, thirty people were evacuated from the house. The flames dampened in about an hour. Forty square meters of the old woman’s home burned down, as well as part of the attic insulation.
Today, the pensioner is not present in her place of residence, but the neighbors say that at the moment nothing threatens her health and she lives with her relatives.
