A Detective on the Loose in Hollywood 4: Eddie Murphy is back as Axl Foley

Eddie Murphy has 10 children and has to get to work, so ‘A Detective on the Loose 4’ is on the way. The iconic ’80s comedian was looking to regain some glory, for better or worse, following his acclaim for Dolemite is My Name for Netflix. Murphy would visit Zamunda again with the sequel to one of his most beloved comedies in ‘Coming 2 America’. Murphy has also added a couple of new titles to his current resume with ‘You People’ and Prime Video’s upcoming holiday comedy ‘Candy Cane Lane.’

The great franchise to which Eddie Murphy will return is ‘A Detective Loose in Hollywood 4’ (Beverly Hills Cop: Axl Foley). After years of being in development limbo, Axel Foley is ready to drive through the Beverly Hills in a Netflix original film.

ComicBook.com shared the first look at the sequel via Empire. In the picture, as you can see, you can take away Axel’s problems, but you can’t take away Axel’s problems as he appears to be in a complicated situation involving a crashed vehicle and bystanders videotaping.

The producer of the film, Jerry Bruckheimerwas excited to be on set with Murphy after all these years. “Every time you walk on set, you never know what you’re going to find. And it’s always pretty bright. Every day he’s there takes you back to the 80s”.

Bruckheimer is also excited to show audiences a new foil for Murphy in the form of an unlikely partner played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He claims that the new character “He gets stuck with Axel and they get hysterical together. “Joseph is a great match for Eddie.”.

Murphy himself reflected on his iconic character. He previously explained that he took on the role in 1984.: “I didn’t feel any pressure. When you’re young, you take everything for granted. So that’s all I knew. Know? Things started happening to me quickly so I didn’t even think about it. Now when I look back, I think, ‘Wow! He was very young!’ 48 Hrs, I’m 20 years old in 48 Hrs. You’re not thinking that at that moment. But now I can say, ‘Wow.’ He was very young.’ There was no pressure back then, I just kept going.”.

The production of ‘A Detective Loose in Hollywood 4’ It began in August 2022 in California and does not yet have a release date. All three original Beverly Hills Cop films are streaming now on Paramount+.
