TO Russia has arrested a convicted felon after he fired a machine gun at police officers in a region bordering Ukraine, BGNES reported.
The 38-year-old suspect is believed to be a mercenary from the Wagner military company, whose forces are on the front lines of the war.
The man was detained in the village of Kiselovo in the southern part of the Rostov region.

He is suspected of shooting police officers with a machine gun and wounding one of them on Tuesday in the city of Novoshakhtinsk, investigators said.
The man was arrested after a manhunt that lasted nearly 24 hours. He was convicted of robbery and was serving his sentence in a penal colony in the city of Ufa when he was recruited by Wagner to fight in Ukraine. He later defected.

Wagner’s owner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, thanked the police who arrested the man and said the company would conduct its own investigation.
Prigozhin added that instead of giving information to journalists, Russian policemen should be sent to the front in Ukraine.
