Javier Padilla and Pablo Motos.
Javier Padilla, deputy of Más Madrid in the Community Assembly, he recounted on Twitter the phone call he received last February, after to quote from the podium a Pablo Motos, presenter of The Anthill.
At the time, Padilla put up Motos as an example of someone who is “detrimental to himself, to his own health and to society as a whole.”
now and after the presenter responded indignantly to the video of the Ministry of Equal Opportunities, revealed that two days after that surgery he received an email from the manufacturer of the anthill in which they told him they wanted to talk to him about what he had said at the Madrid Assembly.
“I told them we would talk on Monday, and that was it. We had a very cordial conversation and for a long time. I had done some previous research and saw that this was an issue with the presenter in terms of image,” Padilla explained.
“Yesterday is a new episode of the same thing but bigger (a deputy in a regional chamber is not the same thing as a ministry, of course). The difference is that mine was a cordial speech where they tried to explain to me that ‘all that was something before’ and that it had already changed”, underlined the deputy, who insists he always wants to “welcome anyone who represents the -desire-for-change”.
“Not as a marketing strategy, but as a sincere desire to improve the society in which we live,” he qualified. And he stressed that it is “good news that certain behaviors feel socially disapproved”: “And I think it is important that those who disapprove/we disapprove of these behaviors are not intimidated by the warning calls of those who feel challenged.”
In his February speech, Padilla stressed that patriarchy grants “many privileges to men,” but also warned that it “restricts some of their freedoms.”
“And this leads to a real amputation to express themselves emotionally, to assume care burdens, to assume other types of behaviors and pushes them to adopt lifestyle habits that put their lives at risk,” he highlighted.
“For us, the future is not a very small cage but a meadow that interrogates more people and in which we all find ourselves,” Padilla continued before emphasizing: “You and we have a different model of what it means to be a man. There is no doubt about this. You applaud Torrente, Pablo Motos, the shirtless man in the horned helmet storming the Capitol or the male mob storming Lorca”.
“But they don’t understand that Pablo Motos or Torrente are harmful to themselves, to their health and to society as a whole. We believe that fewer Torrentes and more Pau Gasoles, for example ”, he said.
