The Berlinale International Film Festival in Berlin renewed its solidarity with Ukraine on the anniversary of the Russian attack on it, through a demonstration held on the red carpet at the famous festival.
The event was attended – in addition to Berlinale leaders Mariette Reisenbeck and Carlo Chatrian – this year’s jury president, American actress Kristen Stewart, and members of the jury.
German Minister of Culture Claudia Roth (Green Party) and Ukraine’s ambassador to Germany Oleksiy Makiev announced their support for the demonstrators.
During the festival, which ends on Saturday, statements of solidarity with Ukraine were issued and discussions were held on the subject. During the opening ceremony, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was in direct contact. Ukrainian films and products dealing with the war were also shown.
