At the invitation of the regional governor of Burgas, Prof. Maria Neikova, a delegation from the administrative district of Karclareli visited Burgas.

The delegation from Turkey was led by the regional governor of the Kurklareli district, Mr. Birol Ekiji, and included the deputy minister of education, a representative of the people, the mayors of Kurklareli and Babaeski, as well as heads of universities, customs, hospital managers, leading cardiologists, presidents of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, hotel owners and representatives of the tourism industry in our southern neighbor.

The guests were welcomed by the regional governor, the mayors of Burgas, Pomorie, Karnobat, Tsarevo, Ruen, Primorsko, Kameno and Sredets, the deputy mayors of Sozopol and Malko Tarnovo and by heads of territorial directorates of the Burgas region.

The Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Burgas, Mr. Tolga Orkun, emphasized the traditionally good relations between Bulgaria and Turkey and declared his readiness to give additional positive energy in this direction through active diplomatic activity.

The priorities for both countries are the implementation of the projects for the expansion of Malko Tarnovo and Derekoy border crossings, development of bilateral relations in the field of education and culture.

Development of health care and the exchange of experience and specialists from hospitals between the two administrative areas is a reality and a sought-after opportunity to increase the qualifications of local and Turkish doctors and trainees.

The district governor of Kirklareli declared his readiness to provide assistance in the preparation by the Bulgarian side of a mirror technical and working project of the future border crossing Malko Tarnovo.

A major educational forum is to be organized with the participation of leading scientists from both countries.

The presidents of the Chambers of Industry and Industry have again invited regional businesses to develop and expand their activities in the Kirklareli Industrial Zone, which they say is another step in intensifying business relations and increasing employment.

The mayors of the municipalities from the Burgas region stated that their relations with the municipalities from the Kirklareli region are long-standing and traditionally very good, and this rhythm of work will continue in the future.

They expressed satisfaction with the benefits of bilateral cooperation.

“The friendship between our two peoples has strong roots. I use this opportunity, as a representative of the state, to heartily thank you for responding readily to extinguishing the fires that have recently engulfed Bulgaria. I also see the desire to cooperate even more actively, which will contribute only positive things to both our peoples,” said Prof. Neikova and added that in the person of the regional governor and the mayors of the Burgas region, they will always meet correctness, responsibility and friendliness attitude.

The guests took away pleasant impressions from their stay in Burgas, from the hospitality of the Bulgarians with the request that they will soon visit the regional city again to sign a memorandum of cooperation, which will be the basis for the twinning of municipalities from both countries and work on cross-border projects.
