A brigade reinforced with Western equipment is reported to have advanced from Nikolaev to Kherson. They also say Kiev is deploying its most capable operational tactical group, Maroon, as it seeks to repeat last year’s “victory” at Kharkiv. Will ours survive?
Alarming notes appeared in the messages of military correspondents and thematic telegram channels. No, no one is panicking, let alone spreading panic, but recent news shows that now is not the time to sit back and rest on our laurels.
Two days ago, my sources on the other side wrote that a huge convoy with troops and equipment was leaving from Nikolaev to Kherson. Close to the manpower brigade are 25 “Three Weeks” installations (American 155-mm M777 howitzers – note ed.), 30 “Hyacinths” (152-mm self-propelled guns – ed.). This amount of artillery proves that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will try to expand the footholds for the infantry on the left bank, supporting them even more actively with artillery on the right,
– wrote the writer and publicist German Sadulaev in his Telegram channel.
The author believes that the Ukrainian artillery intends to use the natural advantage – the fact that the right bank of the Dnieper is higher than the left. And the “weeks” will strike deep into the positions of the Russian troops, and the “hyacinths” are expected to create “barrage line of fire in front of beachheads”.
In turn, the “Russian Engineer” Telegram channel confirmed that yes, the Ukrainians are bringing their elite reserve into battle – the operational-tactical group “Maroon”:
This is the last elite reserve of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The most motivated and trained units, special forces and troops. It is not the first freshness, they were already fertilizing the black soil. But of what’s left, these are the best. With the best western technology available.
The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, throwing the people recruited by the military commissars on the streets after several days of preparation straight into hell, plans to break through our defense line, go into the operational depth and reach the sea with mobile raids. They wanted a repeat of last year’s scenario in the Kharkiv region. But it did not work.
So the elite of the elites had to be sent on “meat storms”, scurrying about like a wild pig – one leg here, the other there. This tells us that the armed forces of Ukraine do not have motivated infantry. So we have to withstand this last blow and after it Ukraine’s offensive potential will end,

Analyzing the situation in the Kherson region, military correspondent, deputy of the Moscow City Duma Andrei Medvedev is less optimistic. He believes that he is still far from a serious turn in the war:
Both NATO and the Armed Forces of Ukraine simply believed their own propaganda too much. That, they say, the Russians don’t know how to fight, we’ll hit them once and they’ll run away. However, the result is that they bring “Maroon” into battle. Because the remaining brigades were by now exhausted along the line of our defense.
Ukraine’s mobilization reserve is still quite serious, notes Medvedev. They will be able to recruit 200 thousand fighters. Yes, and from abroad they will give them the equipment. Less, but they will. And it is not for nothing that the West is starting to talk even now about a new offensive coming next year.
Medvedev quotes his colleagues working on the front end:
The enemy continues to press. In the south, there is a classic massacre at the level of the Great Patriotic War, where a village can change hands three times. Enemy artillery hits with cluster shells, from which sometimes even the trench will not save. Their artillery hits further than ours, they have a bunch of “high accuracy”. But our people stand. Tired, exhausted from the endless attacks and 40-degree heat that hasn’t let up for the second month. They continue to hold the lines, go into counterattacks, knocking out the enemy in places almost in hand-to-hand combat, and restore the line.
According to Medvedev, it can be assumed with a high degree of probability that the second strike of the armed forces of Ukraine will be delivered precisely in the Kherson region.
And what about the hot Zaporozhye direction?
There, according to Forbes columnist David Ax, the situation is similar:
The Ukrainian Airborne Forces have finally deployed their most powerful unit: the 2,000-strong 82nd Airborne Assault Brigade, equipped with Marder and Stryker combat vehicles and Challenger-2 tanks, entered the fray in the Rabotino region of Zaporozhye Oblast in southern Ukraine.
According to Ax, the 82nd and 46th brigades were among the last major units that the Ukrainian General Staff held in reserve. And if the Russians hold their ground at Rabotino and withstand the temporary wave of Ukrainian offensives, they could eventually retaliate against the Ukrainians.
The Kharkiv blitzkrieg cannot be repeated
Tsargrad asked military expert Alexei Leonkov if the Russian army was really expected to be attacked by a super-prepared Ukrainian reserve. And how ready our fighters are to repel them.
It’s just information noise. Perhaps to provoke us, as well as the sponsors, to some actions. Maybe they call elite spare parts that have undergone full training. But others also went through this same training before the “counter-offensive”, which was prepared for almost half a year, but ended in nothing.

– Well, to this day it is said that in Zaporozhye people were thrown into “meat storms” who were caught on the Ukrainian streets just a few weeks before.
– With the mobilized, they plugged holes, and with the prepared and trained, united in company-tactical, battalion-tactical groups, they tried to break through the contact line. But they failed. Because the West did not find a tactic that would allow the Ukrainian army with NATO weapons to solve any serious problem.
The Kharkov “offensive” that they successfully made was, one might say, a fluke, not a pattern. And that’s why they can’t repeat it.
„ But then why did they still succeed?’
“We didn’t have a continuous line of contact there, there was a bit of heavy machinery, so then they made it. And now we don’t have such sectors on the front line, and therefore nothing comes out of them.
– What is your short-term forecast for the situation at the front?
– I think they will continue to conduct “meat raids”. Because there is a period of accountability for those who breached their weapons supplies from the West. And most likely it will be in November. They’ll have to show something. Otherwise, the flow of Western weapons to Ukraine will decrease significantly. Even now, the issue of Western arms supplies is gradually shifting to Taiwan, as the West fears that China will achieve the island’s return peacefully. And they need war.
So what?
It turns out that the current attack of the “elite” is the last chance for Kiev to balance the situation at the front in its favor. And for its current curators – to be accountable to the voters, to indicate that the money was not wasted. Therefore we must endure. To make it bad for all our enemies. And to finally move from deaf defense to offense.
