Bratislava Capitals hockey coach Peter Draisaitl is 100 percent behind the club’s decision to suspend participation in the Austrian supranational IHL. He said this after Sunday’s last official training of his team.
The Capitals prematurely terminated their activities this season after the tragic deaths of hockey player Boris Sádecký and the general director and vice-president of the club Dušan Pašek Jr.
“I have mixed feelings. However, given the circumstances, the interruption of the season is the only right decision, which I stand for 100% and I have great respect for, as well as to manage this situation. “ said Peter Draisaitl after training.
In his coaching future, the German coach is not yet clear: “I will meet with Mr. Ďurkovič today and see. I don’t have enough information yet to tell me what my future will look like. ”

Martin Chovan’s defender also regrets the premature end of the season in which the Capitals began to prosper. “We had work done here that we did not finish for objective reasons. I’m sorry, but we need to go further and probably start somewhere else, “ said the 35-year-old Prievidza offspring.
He indicated that the hockey future was already resolved, but he did not want to reveal the details: “I had some offers and I decided on one of them, but I can’t talk about it yet.”
The defender replaced several clubs in the highest Slovak competition, such as Košice, Trenčín and Nové Zámky, and before serving in the Capitals he was captain of Detva. Next season, he did not rule out continuing with his current club: “If it continues here next year, I would definitely like to be a part of it. I think that Bratislava Capitals sk has kept us honest and all clubs in Slovakia should follow suit. ”
Capitals entered the IHL in the 2020/2021 season. In the basic part, they took 7th place and in the superstructure they fought their way to the playoffs during their premiere. In it, they lost to the later vice-champion Bolzano 1: 4 in the quarterfinals. In the current year, they played 14 matches, in which they collected 20 points and they owned the current 10th place out of fourteen participants in the competition.
