“At the beginning of its existence, FOZZG had 40 students and 10 teachers. Now the faculty has nearly 500 students and more than 60 academic staff. It was this unit that gave the university the opportunity to go beyond the borders of Burgas. In this year, a branch for the training of nurses was opened in Dobrich, the opening of one in Kazanlak is also to come”, were the words of Prof. Dr. Hristo Bozov, MD, Rector of Burgas State University.

Prof. PhD Maria Neykova, regional governor of the Burgas Region, congratulated the teaching staff of FOZZG and its students on the occasion of the anniversary.

“In my opinion, the successes at the university are due to the fact that we all worked together for the expansion of the university with new units, which are extremely necessary for the Burgas and Bulgarian health care at the moment. We overcame the skepticism of many who were reserved that the opening of this faculty was possible. And we have already opened two in the field of medicine and public health care and we are preparing to open a third – in pharmacy”, said the mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov.

A special guest at the event was Prof. Ph.D. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” fought together with the local authorities for the legalization of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria.

On the occasion of the celebration of FOZZG, the “One academic hour” initiative was held with the participation of prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD, who is a doyen in the field of public health.

He touched on topics related to ethics, financing and health policy. Prof. Vodenicharov shared that the foundation of health policy is ethics. According to him, there should be a practice of initiating a public debate, as a result of which decisions can be made by consensus.

At the end of the event, a hall named after the late Prof. Dr. Mimi Stoicheva, who was the first dean of FOZZG after its founding and a tree was planted in her memory.
