“A day without music is a mistake”: John Williams assured that he will not retire

During the last year it was groped that the original music of Indiana Jones and the call of fate would not only mark the latest collaboration between John Williams and director Steven Spielberg, but would also mark the legendary composer’s retirement. However, the musician himself has now settled the matter.

In the framework of an event held in Beverly Hills, Williams assured that he will remain “for a while” in the film business as stated in The Hollywood Reporte.

The event involving Williams was held at the Writers Guild of America Theater and marked an American Cinematheque celebration of the collaboration between the composer and Spielberg, which spans from the director’s first film, The Sugarland Express from 1974.

“Steven is a lot of things. He is a director, a producer, a studio head, a writer, a philanthropist, an educator. The only thing he is not is a man you can say no to,” Williams said at the event. “So I’m 10 years older, I’ll be staying for a while! Also, you can’t withdraw from music. It’s like breathing, it’s your life. It’s my life. A day without music is a mistake”, he raised.

In that sense, and as Spielberg was in the place, the director was amazed and joked assuring that: “it is better that I find what the hell I am going to do next!”.

The last collaboration between the two was the film The Fabelmanswhich will hit Chilean theaters in February.
