International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8, a day that evokes the struggle of women for their participation in society. Due to its origin and the tragic events it commemorates, this date is used to visualize gender inequality and to vindicate the fight for effective equality of rights for women in various fields.

In 1910, at the II International Conference of Socialist Women meeting in Copenhagen, the demand for universal suffrage for all women was reiterated and, at the proposal of Clara Zetkin, the International Day of Working Women was proclaimed, although no fixed date was established for it. its celebration. Zetkin’s proposal was unanimously supported by the conference attended by more than a hundred women from 17 countries, including the first three elected to the Finnish parliament. The goal was to promote equal rights, including suffrage for women.In addition to Zetkin, other pioneers in claiming her rights were Rosa Luxemburg, Aleksandra Kolontái, Nadezhda Krúpskaya and Inessa Armand.
