A dangerous challenge on “Tik Tok” is spreading among university students in America

The University of Massachusetts warned against a TikTok challenge after 28 ambulances were called to off-campus parties.

Officials said the students were seen on Saturday carrying jugs of a mixture of alcohol, electrolytes, flavorings and water, dubbed “angry blackout gallons,” in a hangover rally that is gaining traction on TikTok.

Electrolytes are minerals and salts in the body, which have an electrical charge, and are found in blood, urine, tissues and other body fluids.

Officials said there were so many ambulance calls for alcohol poisoning among students that nearby agencies stepped in to help.

The Amherst Fire Department of Hampshire County, Massachusetts, reported that none of the cases were life-threatening.

The University of Massachusetts Police reported two arrests for underage drinking.

University of Massachusetts officials said this is the first time the university has observed widespread use of “angry blackout gallons” at off-campus parties.

The university said in a statement that the weekend’s events will be evaluated and steps taken to improve alcohol education.

Students coming to university are already learning about the physiological and medical risks of heavy drinking.
