A report from National Education proves that there are flaws in the support of adolescents in their choices, from college to master. He particularly deplores the lack of coordination between guidance players in the dissemination of information and believes that the problem does not come only from Parcoursup.

Alexandre felt a great loneliness when choosing his direction in high school. He deplores a lack of listening from teachers and guidance counselors: “They advise us to go and find out about certain websites, but it’s always technical and it doesn’t necessarily make us want to be interested in it. When we meet in January in our final year, we are completely lost and we wonder what will happen next ”. The report recommends greater involvement of the number of teachers in guidance. According to Sophie Venetitay from Snes-Fsu, teachers lack the skills to best guide students: “Sometimes we are asked a lot of things, forgetting that we are not education professionals, it is difficult to play the role of National Education shrink when we are not trained for that. We need more psychologists from National Education ”.

Beyond the lack of staff, education professionals highlight a lack of time dedicated to support. The report ultimately deplores the persistence of inequalities in terms of choice, as explained by Catherine Nave-Bekhti, from the General Union of National Education: “If we do not accompany the students, we will let the performances and self-censorship play out. Support for students must take place at the heart of the establishment ”. In the end, it is often with the family that orientation is played out. 6 out of 10 vocational terminal students say they do not have a precise knowledge of the profession for which they are destined before obtaining their diploma.
