A Czech citizen who looted Ukraine was sentenced to 7 years in prison ᐉ News from Fakti.bg – World News

A Czech court sentenced former soldier Philip Seeman to seven years in prison for robbery at a military operation in Ukraine, Ukrinform reported, citing Radio Prague International, BTA reported.

The court found the Czech citizen Siman guilty of looting in the war zones. Prosecutor Martin Billie said that the charge in the case against Seaman is the first charge of such a crime in the war in Ukraine. The decision is not final.

Siman, who is twenty-seven years old, said in his defense that he went to help Ukraine because his ancestors came from that country, and he said that he took things from Ukrainian homes on the orders of his superiors. Czech prosecutors initially sought a 10-year sentence under strict supervision.

Before going to Ukraine, Siman served two years in the Czech army. He joined the Ukrainian battalion “Carpathian Sich” as a volunteer at the end of March 2022, without the permission of the Czech president.
