A cyberpunk FPS reminiscent of B-movies is made, in which I build a chainsaw in one of the protagonist’s legs

A pretty wild preview has appeared on Apogee Entertainment’s YouTube channel, announcing their upcoming game, the talkative Turbo Overkill. It’s going to be a highly retro-looking, B-movie-inspired FPS in which we’re going to smash the streets of a cyberpunk city.

The protagonist of the game is Johnny Turbo (I’m not kidding) who wants to correct his past mistakes, so he returns to his hometown, Paradise, over which he has taken control of a bushy artificial intelligence, Syn. Johnny and I are trying to eliminate this MI, but rival bounty hunters are also chasing the same game.

In terms of its gameplay, Turbo Overkill is reminiscent of the classics of the 90s, which is no coincidence because its creator is the author of Doom II’s horroristic mode, Total Chaos. And he’s even helped by Scott Miller, co-founder of 3D Realms, who was present at games such as Wolfenstein 3D, Rise of the Triad, Duke Nukem 3D, Max Payne and Prey. The Turbo Overkill will accordingly be an up and down rushing shooting range in which you will be able to run on a wall and ride a hook rope. But it will also have a flying car with it to hit enemies, and Johnny has a working circular saw in one of his legs that we can use to grind everyone well. The graphics seem charmingly outdated, especially in terms of animation and character models, but the lighting effects and colors are receptive. And classical, guitar-crushing music isn’t bad either.

Turbo Overkill does not yet have a release date, although Steamen it is written that “SOON ™” will arrive. In addition to a PC, it will also be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One.
