The Syrian novelist, Juhayna Al-Awam, affirmed that the UAE assumes great responsibilities in the arenas of Arab culture and thought, with which it enhances the preservation of our identity and the preservation of our language.
It empowers and motivates our creators. The owner of (Wild Female), who recently obtained a golden residency in the UAE, also referred to the great role of the Emirates in motivating and supporting Arab intellectuals in many forms. Juhayna Al-Awam, in her dialogue with Al-Bayan, also called on all Arab countries and official Arab institutions to take the initiative and launch cultural projects, similar to the UAE approach, that raise the status of our culture and promote the proper construction of our children’s intellect.
And she continued: 12 years ago, I published my first book (The Jasmine Shawl), then it was the novel (Under the Navel of the Moon), which turned into a feature film directed by Ghassan Shmit, who also co-wrote the script with me, then my second novel was (A Wild Female), followed by a novel ( Wow, the astonishment), which was a biography that chronicled the history of an entire region and documented many important events and their repercussions on people. As for my fourth novel (Abygos), it is currently in print. It takes place outside of time and space, and its subject is completely different from what I wrote previously.
She added: I am drawn to human stories, regardless of their depths, reflections, and experiences. There are many transformations that draw us to them without intending to. All the orbits around us attract us to it, we gasp behind it sometimes we assume the role of the narrator and sometimes the spectator and sometimes we submit to the adventure, we think that we are writing the story and discover every time that it is writing us.
Just as the ability to write is also the ability to live. We write to resist the trembling of the wound in front of the tragedy. We write to give letters the wings of crossing into the spaces of the dream. Writing is a deep connection to the meaning of life for those who own its lanterns.
And she added: There are qualitative intellectual and cultural initiatives and projects taking place in the United Arab Emirates, coupled with sincere efforts that enhance the status of culture and intellectuals and advance the human message of creativity.
In fact, we see in the Emirates a great encouragement for creators, and we find that several ministries, agencies and institutions have taken upon themselves the care of creators and people of culture and art and provided them with support and care and supported many in achieving their dreams.
It is certain that this will have unique fruits, both immediate and future. The UAE is in fact leading a cultural and Arab human project whose essence is human values, beauty and goodness. I also hope that all our countries will take the initiative to preserve our culture, language, identity and history of our societies. If we conducted a simple census of children who master the Arabic language in writing and speaking, we would find the result disastrous.
The efforts and initiatives of the UAE in this regard are qualitative and fruitful, and many should follow suit. I wish continued prosperity and excellence for the leadership and people of the United Arab Emirates, and all thanks to the esteemed “statement”.
And about the fact that the novel has already become the master of the situation in the Arab literary arena, she said: The story has its bells and charms, the story of love between us begins on the mother’s chest, and under the influence of her voice inhabited by peace and tranquility and grows in us, we hear the same story repeated, but with time we take over directing it and give starring roles to those who won A space in the heart, and we choose the locations of the events, we imagine and smile or cry, novels give their readers the pleasure of directing, perhaps that is why they gain popularity and interest.
