Mexican authorities arrested a man of Cuban origin accused of stabbing a Venezuelan migrant in the country’s capital.
According to the reporter Carlos Jimenezthe detainee was identified as Lázaro Silva, and the incident took place in a home where these and other migrants lived in the Iztapalapa mayor’s office.
Jiménez points out that the Cuban and the Venezuelan would have gotten drunk during the night in that house when an argument escalated and ended with the detainee pulling out a knife and attacking the victim, identified as Greison García.
After the incident, the authorities of the Aztec capital arrived in the area to search for and arrest the aggressor.
“Cuban stabs and tries to kill Venezuelan… in La Peligrosa. Lázaro Silva lives in a house in the dangerous Iztapalapa mayor’s office with other undocumented immigrants. There they got drunk and attacked the Venezuelan Greison García. Agents from the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City, Santa Cruz Sector, located him and detained him. “That’s how it ended,” reads the short publication.
The photographs show the detainee and the attacked Venezuelan while some of those present try to help him.
The attack would have occurred on the street, and the victim ended up being helped on a nearby sidewalk.
As the months go by, cases like this are reported from Mexico, mostly by people who are waiting to travel north to reach the southern border of the United States.
Last week, the police in the city of Cancún, in the state of Quintana Roo, arrested three men of Cuban origin for having kidnapped another citizen of the Island. The authorities point out that this rescue was possible thanks to someone calling report that a foreigner was locked in an uninhabited home and needed help.
