A Cuban couple has been arrested in Florida for a millionaire jewelry heist

Florida police arrested a Cuban couple accused of carrying out an armed robbery in which they managed to take nearly two million dollars in clothes and gold from a jewelry store in the city of Nashville, Tennessee.

According to the police report, the Cubans were identified as Milleni García, 38 years old, and Orlando Valdés Hernández, 34, who were arrested at a hotel in Miami Beach over the weekend.

Authorities said the couple shares an address on Quail Roost Drive in the unincorporated area of ​​South Miami Heights.

The robbery occurred on October 23, when the two entered the Dubai Jewelry jewelry store, located in a shopping center in southeast Nashville. Once inside, they started asking for jewelery to try on and look, before pulling out guns and threatening staff.

In the end, the couple made off with a lot of gold and other valuables, which was captured on the business’s security cameras.

Police say the couple, who had the help of a third person who has not yet been arrested, managed to take several items worth $1.7 million.

According to local media, the pair used pepper spray during the robbery, and pushed store staff into a room at the back of the store. After taking the jewelry, they fled the scene.

The police indicated that the Cubans were located on Sunday, October 27, four days after the robbery, they were at the Grand Beach Hotel, at 4835 Collins Avenue, in Mid-Beach.

The stolen jewelry, money and a white wig were found which would have been used in the robbery by the couple. Authorities confirmed that the arrest was the result of an intensive investigation between the Miami Beach police departments and the Metropolitan Nashville police.

The pair were sent to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGK) in Miami-Dade last Monday, where they are still awaiting extradition to Tennessee.

These are charged with aggravated robbery with the use of a weapon, aggravated robbery, robbery with the use of an instrument of force, and facilitating aggravated kidnapping such as possession and/or use of a weapon.

Both were refused bail.

“We were able to take two dangerous individuals off the street, our undercover police officers saw them, and we arrested them,” said Christopher Bess, a Miami Beach police spokesman.

At this time, the authorities are continuing to search for the third suspect who was involved in the million dollar robbery, which they asked for help from the community.
