A crisis threatening to raise poultry prices … Know the details

Feed prices witnessed, during the current month of October, a significant increase, reaching the price per ton to 7,400, which threatens to raise the price of poultry in the coming period.

Poultry farmers have been suffering for several months from the high cost of raising, with the decline in market demand and the decline in the price of poultry from the farm to the consumer.

In this context, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Sayed, Head of the Poultry Division at the Chamber of Commerce, said that the increase in feed prices caused great losses for poultry farmers and producers, with lower prices as a result of the decline in demand and the decline in the purchasing power of citizens.

Al-Sayed added that the price of a ton of feed increased during the month of October by about 600 pounds, to currently record about 7400 pounds, compared to about 6800 pounds last month.

Al-Sayed attributed the reasons for the increase in feed prices to the increase in the price of a ton on the global stock exchanges as a result of storage operations and increased demand from traders.

The volume of domestic production of poultry is about one billion and 100 million chickens annually, as Egypt is on the gates of achieving self-sufficiency in poultry, while the number of workers in the local poultry industry is about 2.5 million workers, and Egypt’s production of eggs has increased to 13 billion eggs. Annually, by 130 eggs per person annually.

Egypt’s production of white poultry and other birds such as pigeons, ducks and turkeys is about 170 thousand tons per month, while the local consumption is 150 thousand tons of white poultry only, and the per capita share of white meat is about 21.5 kilograms annually.
