A Covid-19 Booster Vaccine Arrives In BC This Winter Season – El Sol de Tijuana

Tijuana.- To strengthen preventive measures against Covid-19 this winter season, a total of 104,600 doses have arrived in Baja California to apply a booster vaccine to vulnerable groups.

The Secretary of Health in the entity, J. Adrián Medina Amarillas, reported that, thanks to the management carried out before the federal authorities, this single-dose vaccine will be available, which will be intended in a first phase for adults over 60 years of age, i first responders such as: firefighters, police officers and health personnel, as they are vulnerable groups to contagion or to the complication of the disease caused by SARS-CoV2.

The Abdala vaccine will be applied to these vulnerable sectors of the population and, in addition, latecomers who have never received a biological vaccine against Covid-19 will be vaccinated for the first time.

Medina Amarillas stressed that, in addition to this campaign, vaccination for girls and boys aged 5 to 11, as well as vaccination against seasonal flu, will continue.

The booster vaccination for the elderly will begin on Monday, December 19 at various Ministry of Health vaccination sites in the state, as well as at the IMSS, ISSSTE and ISSSTECALI units.

“We invite all people aged 60 and over to get vaccinated with this reinforcement which will be very useful in this time of respiratory diseases; Do not hesitate to get vaccinated, it is safe and a very good option that we have in Baja California to prevent us from Covid-19, in order to avoid complications, ”she said.

The ban on the Ministry of Health’s vaccination sites will be announced this weekend in the official state networks and in the media.
