A court expert predicts an uncertain future for the royal house

It is for now my Carl Gustaf (76) and Queen Silvia (79) who sit at the throne in our neighboring country Sweden. Your daughter Crown Princess Victoria (45) are next in line, followed by their firstborn, Princess Estelle (10), who will have to take on the big task – to become head of state.

However, it is uncertain whether the monarchy in our neighboring country will continue for as many years to come, according to court expert Herman Lindqvist.

– Going that way

I «The Sunday interview» on Sveriges Radio, Lindqvist expresses that he is not entirely sure of the Swedish royal house’s survival, writes Swedish Women’s Magazine.

– I think that in the long term it will be erased, completely. The more non-royals marry and the more non-royal children are born, there is no sense in continuing in the end, unfortunately, he says.

As is known, all of the royal couple’s children, the Crown Princess, Prince Carl Philip (43) and Princess Madeleine (40), their partners do not have a royal background. The same also applies to the Norwegian royal family.

When asked how long he imagines it will be before the royal house is at the end of the road, he replies that he thinks it will be “a maximum of 20 more years”.

Furthermore, presenter Martin Wicklin wonders if the expert believes that Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel’s (49) daughter, Princess Estelle, will be able to become monarch sometime in the future.

– Yeah, maybe. But she will probably be the last, unfortunately. I apologize for that, but there is a development that goes that way, Lindqvist replies.

Se og Hør’s royal house expert, Caroline Vagle, is not as firm as Lindqvist, however.

– I cannot predict the future, so I find it difficult to say anything definite about that. But I don’t agree with the argument that the more people marrying non-royals, the more it fades away. I would rather say thank you and praise that they get to marry whoever they want!

– If we are to have a monarchy in the future, I think it is absolutely necessary that the institution keeps up with the times.

Early bends

The young princess is already well on her way in training for her upcoming role.

In October she got international attention when she was involved on his very first state visit. Estelle was there as a representative when King Willem-Alexander (55) and Queen Máxima (51) of the Netherlands traveled to Sweden.

It was naturally a big event, both for the 10-year-old himself, but also for the whole of Sweden. For comparison, our own Ingrid Alexandra (19) has not yet participated in such a visit.
