A German couple took a two-week Caribbean vacation with TUI Cruises. Unexpectedly, they were kicked back to the shore on the first day they boarded the ship. The main reason was that they were having “sex too loudly.” After being complained by other passengers, the captain finally ordered the couple to be kicked off the cruise ship. German woman Renate F and her husband Volker set off on the “Mein Schiff 5” of TUI Cruises, preparing to enjoy a period of 2 week Caribbean vacation. When the cruise ship docked in the Caribbean island country of Barbados on the first day of the voyage, Renate and her husband were enjoying sex in the room. Unexpectedly, the sound was too loud and the balcony door was not closed properly, causing everyone around them to wake up. Passengers complained angrily.

Renate revealed that she and her husband later had an argument, but insisted that “there was no violence and there was no damage to the cruise room.” Later, when Walker went to take a shower and Renate stayed on the balcony to smoke, a manager of the cruise ship was on guard for security They were escorted to the room and said, “The captain has ordered them to disembark.” The two were kicked off the cruise ship and stranded in Barbados. In the end, they had to spend thousands of dollars to fly to Paris, France, and then take a train back to Germany.

Renate and Walter later took TUI Cruises to court and requested compensation for mental distress and additional expenses. In response, TUI Cruises responded with a statement saying, “Due to a safety-related incident, we exercised ownership of the room and Guests were asked to disembark,” and said, “This is done to protect the customer in question and other passengers. We have contacted Renate and explained our views on the matter.”

According to TUI Cruises’ regulations, if it is determined that a passenger’s behavior is disruptive, threatening or abusive, or is causing or may cause danger or distress to others, the service can be terminated without any liability.
