A couple arrested in Valencia for robbing a taxi driver with the ‘Mata León’ method
The Civil Guard has arrested a man and a woman for their involvement in a robbery with violence and intimidation against a taxi driver who they tried to render unconscious by means of the ‘Mata León’ technique.
The two people, 29 and 33 years old, of Spanish nationality, have been arrested after a month and a half of registering the robbery from the investigation initiated and within the framework of the ‘Kelba’ operation.
Those arrested have a history of similar events, highlighted the Civil Guard, which has specified that the proceedings for this intervention have been made available to the Guardia de Catarroja Courts (Valencia).
The events that led to this arrest and the start of the ‘Kelba’ operation date back to September 4, when a woman requested the service of a taxi in the Valencian town of Alfafar to travel to work.
Likewise, he explained that after picking up a man in Benetússer (Valencia) they went to Catarroja to acquire narcotic substances in various parts of this town and pointed out that later there was “a violent attack on the taxi driver.”
The Civil Guard has indicated that it was the woman who initiated the attack with the ‘Mata León’ technique from the back seat of the taxi to achieve strangulation and the consequent loss of consciousness of the victim.
Likewise, he stressed that in the face of “active resistance” from the taxi driver, the woman’s companion opened the door of the vehicle and punched the driver several times in the face until he saw another vehicle approaching and fled on foot.
130 euros and mobile
The taxi driver, who required medical assistance due to the injuries, managed to get rid of the ‘Mata León’ technique and start the march again with his car, while the woman jumped from it and fled as well.
The detainees stole 130 euros from the daily tax and mobile phone collection.
