A Coruña: The Electoral Board of Galicia sees an infraction in the placement of Vox balloons | Radio Coruña

The Electoral Board of Galicia has agreed that the action of Vox to put balloons in several Galician cities, between them A coruña, with the slogan “Galicia é verde” constitutes an infringement of the Organic Law of the General Electoral Regime (Lorex) because it is “propaganda” attributed to a party outside the electoral campaign period, but it will not sanction the formation.

“Although there is no express request to vote, there are strong indications that these objects constitute electoral propaganda or advertising attributed to the denounced party, carried out outside the electoral campaign period because they are directly associated with the denounced political formation,” according to the Electoral Board in its resolution.

The complaint was filed by the PSdeG on June 13, after Vox placed those balloons in various parts of Galicia at dawn on the 11th, coinciding with the visit of the leader of that formation, Santiago Abascal.

The Electoral Board indicates that this massive placement of balloons is a “violation of article 53 of the Lorex”, but adds that “there is no cause for the initiation of disciplinary proceedings in this regard.”

An appeal may be filed against this agreement before the Central Electoral Board, within the period ending at 5:00 p.m. on June 16, 2020.

The aforementioned article prohibits, in the period from the call of the elections to the legal start of the campaign, in its second paragraph, the carrying out of electoral advertising or propaganda through posters, commercial supports or inserts in the press, radio or other digital media, indicates the Electoral Board.

The Franz Weber Foundation will denounce Vox for contamination after its campaign with balloons

The Franz Weber Foundation will interpose administrative complaints against Vox by ‘environmental and animal pollution’, after the placement this Thursday of thousands of green balloons in different locations in Galicia, including A Coruña, ‘without any permission’.

This NGO emphasizes that municipalities such as A Coruña have ordinances that prohibit the placement of advertising elements without permission and that the City Council itself described the act as ‘vandalism’, to which the ‘terrible impact that its main component, plastic, has on animals, especially marine fauna ‘.

The formation placed balloons with the motto ‘Galicia é verde’, coinciding with the presence of its president, Santiago Abascal, at a party act in Mos (Pontevedra) to present the candidacies for the Galician elections on July 12.
