A Coruña: PSOE chamber and councilor Fito Ferreiro denounces in court that the CRTVG has harassed him for being gay | Radio Coruña

The socialist politician from A Coruña and photojournalist Fito Ferreiro has filed a lawsuit against the CRTVG for workplace harassment that, he says, has suffered because of his homosexual condition, because of his political activity and his union work. The lawsuit has been filed before the social court number 2 of Santiago de Compostela and the trial already has a date: next June 15.

Fito Ferreiro points out that it all started in 2005 when he decided to expose himself publicly as an LGTBI activist and one of the visible heads of the ALAS Coruña association. From there, he says, those responsible for the Galician regional television relegate him to the realization of less relevant news and stop sending him to do reports, trips and special events. Fito Ferreiro denounces to make visible the harassment suffered by more people in their situation within the CRTVG.

Fito Ferreiro was a PSOE councilor in the Council of A Coruña, a party in which he continues as a militant. Before filing the lawsuit, Fito Ferreiro submitted a letter to the Human Resources Department of the CRTVG and had filed a complaint prior to the harassment commission of the public entity.

TVG Response

Asked about this matter, the Department of Communication and Corporate Image of the CRTVG has responded, via e-mail, that the public entity respects “to the maximum” the sexual orientation of all people, whether they work for the CRTVG or not.

It indicates that the events denounced by Fito Ferreiro were dealt with internally within the Harassment Commission, made up of a team of human resources, and also brought to the attention of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee, and “no grounds for discrimination against no type”. He underlines in this statement that there are no cases of workplace harassment on radio and television in Galicia “due to sexual orientation issues.”
