The Mayor of Oleiros Ángel García Seoane has lashed out at the Oza oily waste plant project that the Port of A Coruña wants to start up. A plant that would be managed by the LImpoil company, which is in charge of cleaning the interior of the port and has complaints from the Oleiros Council for dumping the waste it collected directly into the municipal sewer. García Seoane criticizes that a plant of these characteristics can be put up next to a fishing port.
It claims that Limpoil transferred its waste to a warehouse in the Icaria urbanization and from there it dumped it into the sanitation network. The complaint of several neighbors for the smell of gas led the City Council to discover the situation and, after prohibiting the activity, it was transferred to the court. The progress of the investigation is not known. Now, he says, a plant with this waste cannot be located next to a fishing port in a populated area and in front of the Oleiros Council.
He denounces that these companies take charge of the waste but doubts that afterwards they will do something other than store it or find ways to eliminate it without recycling.
