A Coruña: Fishing launches a plan for more women to occupy control bodies | Radio Coruña

The Gulf Ártabro Sur Local Fishing Action Group has launched the Mulleres do Mar program, with which it seeks to alleviate the low presence of women in the control bodies of the fishing sector. The objective of the GALP is to create an association that brings together women who work in the sector and that functions as a catalyst to combat the low representation of women in organizations. They will be presented at various points in the region during this week.

They point out that in A Coruña and its region there is no group that represents women and they show that the groups that control the affairs of the fishing sector are directed and made up mainly of men.

Shipowners, shellfish companies, businesswomen, fishing boats, seaweed collectors, netting, industrial and commercial sector workers and women belonging to the scientific and academic field can be part of this new entity. The program will be presented on Wednesday at Ceida, in Santa Cruz, at six in the afternoon. On Thursday in A Coruña, at the headquarters of the Paideia Foundation, starting at five in the afternoon. Sada will close the first round of contacts on Friday in the plenary hall of the City Council.
