A Coruña | Environment | Culture: A Festival of the Seas in defense of the heart of the planet | Radio Coruña | Today for Today A Coruña

The heart of the planet; with this motto begins the Mar de Mares Festival in A Coruña, in its sixth edition and with around thirty activities, it is proposed to be the “capital of the sea” through art, activism, sports and gastronomy. An opportunity to help preserve the oceans.

The starting point is the exhibition of the prestigious “nature” photographer, Cristóbal Serrano, in the O Parrote Dock. Images that also serve to denounce the effects of climate change on the seabed and fauna.

It is the first solo show by Cristóbal Serrano, chosen last year as European Photographer of the Year and winner in two categories of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year award. His photos focus on the search for natural beauty.

The exhibition can be seen until Friday. El Mar de Mares brings with it this year the Australian film meeting Ocean Film Festival and the 1st Great Cleanup of the Seabed at the Marina Dock, both activities on Sunday 22. Visits to the Lonja, rides on the Juan de Lángara Schooner this week, a Mercado del Mar, talks by important scientific disseminators such as Carmen Domínguez, Karmenka and a ToomPak group family show on recycling and education make up thirty activities in defense of the heart of the planet.
