A Coruña: El Anpa de Novo Mesoiro denounces that there are empty classrooms when splits are needed in Covid times | Radio Coruña

He Novo Mesoiro neighborhood of A Coruña has opened its new school today with problems in these times of Covid. The Association of Mothers and Fathers of the center report that the committed teacher staff has not been covered and that there are classrooms with double doors and others that concentrate all the children in a single line despite the need for distance in the midst of the pandemic and the fact that there are empty classrooms. It is the case of second grade which, despite having two lines committed, concentrates its 25 students in a single classroom.

The association of mothers and fathers denounces that the unfolds have occurred in other courses that, in this way, do not reach 25 children per classroom, but not in the second that has an empty classroom.

“In the second year of Primary they don’t want to open the second line for us. They put the 25 children enrolled in a classroom. We understand that in times of a pandemic this is not admissible. The classroom is there, but the Xunta does not give permission to use it. What’s more Applications for second grade are being rejected, alleging that there is no space, “said Victoria Candame, spokesperson for the Monte do Muíño association.

This course also has at least two students with special needs without a committed support teacher. The educational community will transfer the situation to all political formations. They ask the new Minister of Education, Román Rodríguez, to reconsider this decision.
