Men from the Jordanian Public Security Directorate’s Drug Enforcement Department have managed to seize a quarter of a million narcotic pills that were hidden underground in an uninhabited area of Ramtha district in northern Jordan, in an attempt to deliver them inconspicuously to merchants.

For his part, the public security directorate’s media spokesman, Colonel Amer Al-Sartawi, said a security force from the anti-drug department, after receiving intelligence information, reported that a person had hidden a quantity of narcotics in an underground hole in an uninhabited area of the Ramtha Brigade, where the team found 250,000 pills of the narcotic Captagon.
He confirmed that investigations into the case are underway to identify and arrest all those involved.
While security sources told Al-Arabiya.net that public security men used well-trained sniffer dogs to locate the drugs buried underground, and work is underway to identify who hid it in order to seize it and refer it to competent judicial authorities, often the Jordanian State Security Court.
