“Raimonds Pauls has always been a walker with a strong backbone. His ability to inspire everything, to gather artists and spectators around him is amazing, and even at this time he is showing us all an example. This story will be the same.” Gints Andžāns (actor of Raimons Pauls).
The event will take place on July 25 at 17.00 – in Ikšķile, on July 31 at 17.00 – in Cēsis, on August 27 at 19.00 – in Roja, on August 29 at 17.00 – in Madona.
Participants: Gints Andžāns or Mārtinš Egliens, Juris Jope, Ieva Sutugova, Aija Vītoliņa, Līga Kupča, Emīls Kivlenieks, Kristaps Kiršteins, Artūrs Biķernieks. Musicians – Anatolijs Livča (piano), Indrikis Veitners (clarinet, saxophone), Viktors Veļičko (double bass), Mareks Logins (percussion).
The open-air concert performance will enchant the audience from the time of Raimonds Pauls’ first melody to the great success of the Microphone survey.
In the show we will recognize the first performers of Raimonds Pauls – Valentīna Butāna, Margarita Vilcāne, Edgars Zveja, Ojārs Grīnbergs…, as well as the world’s singers – Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra… We will be able to enjoy long-unheard but but loved melodies and world hits. And, of course, we will meet the Maestro himself in his youth.
The show with the scope of the musical will captivate the audience with the atmosphere of the fifties and sixties. We will be able to smile about the curiosities and paradoxes of Soviet life, while enjoying the musical magic of that time. Viewers will be reminded of the construction of the October Bridge, fishing trawlers in the Atlantic waves, the “Voice of America” sounded and suppressed on the radio, and many other events. Viewers will also be delighted by Raimonds Pauls’ characteristic humor, irony and worldview.
The peculiar touch of Raimonds Pauls will be imitated by the outstanding pianist Anatolijs Livča. The performance has a choreography typical of musicals, in which all participants of the show will take part, at the same time becoming both singers and guests of the restaurant and the concert. The inspiring story, the atmosphere of the open-air concert and the beautiful melodies are something not to be missed this summer!
