Recently released game Starfield It was celebrated by everyone who knew its value in the world of gaming, and its importance, as it was the first new game from Bethesda that was not linked to a series in 25 years. We evaluated the game after experiencing a full 100 hours in it, and it received a rating of 9/10 from us (read the review and rating from here) But there are some things that the reviews may not explain, including how to build a ship that meets your needs, which is exactly what we present today in our article. Forget the introductions and let’s get started with our Starfield starship building guide.
First: How do you start building and modifying the ship in Starfield?
It all starts from the landing stations – Spaceport – where each city provides an office or employee from which you can start repairing the ship for 1000 Credits, buy completely new ships, or modify your ship, which is what we will talk about today in detail. If you play Starfield for a long time, you will not need to buy a new ship because the game gives you 4 ships through the main and side game missions, which are as follows:
Frontier ship with the first mission in the story Star Eagle ship after completing the Freestar Rangers missions ship Razorleaf After completing the missions of The Mantis, a ship belonging to the Crimson Fleet pirates. After completing the Kepler R & S pirate missions. After completing the mission A High Price to Pay Wanderwell. After a period of playing, provided that the Kid Stuff trait is chosen at the beginning of the game. The Starborn ship. After completing the game.
Therefore, we do not advise you to rush and buy a new ship, but we advise you to modify your fleet of ships to suit your needs, whether it is to travel greater distances, carry more goods, or even fight, and each of these types of ships has characteristics that it must have.
Characteristics of each ship depending on the purpose of its modification
As for trade ships, they have a huge storage capacity, which the game calls the Cargo Bay, which is the space that carries the goods that you transfer from your personal treasury to the ship’s treasury. Combat ships need powerful engines and medium or small storage capacities so that the ship’s hull itself is smaller in size, so that it has greater speed and enables maneuverability, and of course it must have powerful and effective weapons with high damage. Exploration ships require powerful Grav Drive, powerful gear, huge storage capacity for gathering resources, and mediocre or non-existent weapons.
So you have to decide your priority, which ship you want to build, and once you do that. Go to the maintenance worker in New Atlantis, Cydonia, or Akila (or any other city) and talk to him, and enter the ship’s modification menu. You will then have two options, the first is to modify what is present by pressing A (on the Xbox controller) or pressing X to enter the modification menu.
Of course, we advise you to enter the modification menu by pressing
The best skills you’ll need to improve your ship piloting and combat experience
Piloting: An important skill to be able to keep enemy ships after hijacking them, and to be able to pilot high-level or C-level ships. Astrodynamics: An important skill to obtain a high-level Grav Drive and thus travel greater distances Shielding: An extremely important skill to increase the strength and efficiency of special shields Starship Design: This is an important skill for obtaining levitation reactors
Ship elements and the function of each element
Each ship has 11 items in the Starfield, which are as follows (from most important to least important):
Reactors
It is considered the most important piece of spaceships in the Starfield game, and represents the ship’s main power source, and is usually located at the stern of the ship.
The more hits this piece takes in battles, the less energy you can distribute to the rest of your pieces.
In its normal state, each activated piece of ABC level provides you with a number of energy points (Power Generated) Which you can then distribute to the rest of your pieces. For example, if you have 25 energy points, you can distribute them as follows:
5 points for the engine
5 points for weapons
5 points for armor
5 points for Grave Drive
This will ensure a balanced driving experience, but what if you get into a fight? You will then need to remove the 5 points from the Grav Drive piece to increase the efficiency of the weapons. So it is a continuous process of directing energy according to priority.
Of course, it is the same as all parts of the ship. Generators are divided into 3 categories, as we mentioned, namely A, B, and C, with level C pieces being the best of all, and guaranteeing you a greater number of power points in total. But to choose this type of generator you will need to develop your Piloting and Starship Design skills to the highest levels.
Grav Drive
It is the piece responsible for gravitational jumps, which can move you from one solar system to another very quickly (Fast Travel).
This piece is usually at the back of the ship, and it has important numbers that you see on the left of the screen when choosing the piece, the most important of which are:
Max Power, which is the maximum power points that this piece can absorb. Grav Drive Thrust: which is the extent to which the piece is able to push you in the solar arrays (travel distance), followed in importance by Grav Drive Health, which will determine the number of hits the piece can receive before it is completely destroyed. Of course, this seems important, but choosing the piece higher in this number may mean that you will have to sacrifice the most important characteristics, so I personally do not advise paying attention to this number too much.
Shield
Dealing with armor in Starfield is simple. The most important thing about it is that you choose the most armor-generating pieces available, the ones that absorb the most energy points, and constantly improve them so that it is difficult for enemies to hit you directly.
Shields have 4 important properties: Shield Regenration Rate, Shield Max Power, Class, and Maximum Power
Engine
It controls the ship’s maximum speed, and you directly benefit from it in battles through the maneuvers that it makes possible if its maximum speed (Engine Thrust) increases. It also has a class (Class) of A, B, or C that determines its efficiency, and Max Power determines the number of energy points that you can direct. For him, therefore always try to choose the highest in terms of power points and class, then speed in terms of priority.
Fuel Tank
It is the fuel tank that your ship has. It may not have a direct impact on gameplay, but it is considered one of the most important pieces because you will not be able to travel to distant solar systems from one time unless your fuel tank is large enough. So you should always keep it as up to date as possible to keep it in line with the rest of the pieces, but developing it alone won’t do you much good in the game.
Weapons
Weapons are, of course, the most important thing in your ship’s composition if you want a fast ship capable of fighting very efficiently against the most powerful pirate ships and different enemies that you will encounter in the game.
You are allowed to have only 3 different types of weapons on your ship, out of 5 types, and they are as follows:
Laser weapons: These weapons are characterized by medium damage and high shooting speed Ballistic weapons (firearms): Medium firing speed, high damage Missiles: It is considered the second deadliest weapon on ships, and the most important, so your ship should not be without it, but we advise you not to rely on it too much because missiles take time to reload. Molecular weapon: It is the most deadly weapon in the game, and the one that requires the most energy, and you will only be able to obtain it after developing your ship to high levels. Electromagnetic weapon: It is similar to laser weapons, but its greatest importance is to disable enemy weapons
You will get 3 slots for weapons. You can choose to customize each weapon separately, and while driving your vehicle you will be able to direct energy to each weapon separately. Each weapon has 4 slots, which are the most important when choosing a weapon, and they are as follows:
1- Max power, which is the maximum number of power points that you can direct to the weapon. Always try to choose the highest weapon in your preferred class.
2- Hull Dmg is the points of damage caused by a single hit from this weapon on the hull of the opponent’s ship.
3-Shield Damage: The amount of damage that a single weapon strike inflicts on the opponent’s shield, and is inversely proportional to the Hull Damage, so you should always customize your ship so that you have weapons with a high Hull DMG, and other weapons with a high Shield DMG, because at the beginning of any battle you need to hit the ship. Until her shield bar runs out, then the damage is directed directly at the ship’s hull itself.
Cargo Bay
It is the piece responsible for your storage capacity for resources. It has one important indicator, which is the amount of weight it can bear. But in exchange for this, its size and weight are greater the greater its capacity, and therefore you have to make it as small as possible if you want a ship intended for evasion and combat.
Cockpit
The wheelhouse is the place where you will spend the most time on the ship, so it is recommended to update it periodically, but keep in mind that its weight and size may greatly affect your ship and its ability to maneuver.
Gear
Landing and take-off gear do not have a direct impact on gameplay here, and the impact is largely cosmetic.
Habs
The Habs section is intended for those who want the deepest customization of their ship on the visual level, and enables them to choose the shapes of doors, corridors, and some other cosmetic additions that give their ship a special identity. We advise you to delve into it if you want to customize your ship so that it is different from everything you see on the Internet, but do not count on it having characteristics that will benefit you in combat or navigation.
Bays
They are the entry and exit corridors of the ship, and like the less important pieces, they do not have any important characteristics other than the total weight, which will hinder your movement if you choose the heaviest pieces. So I advise you to be rational in choosing it.
The basics of installing new parts in your vehicle
In order to put the parts in place, you must first understand what the game does not explain to you, but which may seem intuitive if you think about it. It stands to reason that you want your ship’s important parts such as the “Shield” and Grave Drive not to be damaged, so you should choose their locations carefully so that they are not vulnerable to receiving the most damage. Among the millions who played the game, there is one player who succeeded in designing a ship with a strange shape, but it possesses a strength element that no other ship in the game possesses, which is designing it so that it is difficult for his opponents to aim at the important parts of the ship. You can read more about the ship here. When you click on the desired piece, the game gives you the available places to place your new piece. At that time, you can choose between grids in which you can place the new piece. I advise you here to place weapons at the front and bottom of the ship as much as possible, and to place the shield and engine in protected, uncovered places. There are some pieces of which more than one piece is not allowed, which are the Grav Drive, Shield, and Reactor, and they are considered the three most important pieces. So you will have to select your old piece that you no longer want, and press the X button on the Xbox controller to delete the old piece. This way you will be able to fully know the capabilities of the new piece. If you do not like the capabilities of the new piece you chose or do not find the difference worth the amount you will pay, you can press Undo to return the piece you erased. Some pieces may conflict with each other, or you may need to develop one piece so that you can develop others, such as weapons, for example. As the efficiency and level of the weapon increase (from level A to level C), you will need to develop reactors, provided that the level of weapons and Grav Drive is the same level as the reactor. . If you increase the weight of the ship, you will need to buy a Grav Drive with greater power so that it can carry the weight of the new ship during fast travel, and if you do that, you will need a powerful engine that can move all of this ship with its new parts in wide space. Therefore, the shipbuilding process is considered a complex process, but at the same time it is enjoyable if you know its details sufficiently.
After completing all this, you can press the Start button to confirm that you have successfully organized the new pieces. If your choices are correct, the game will give you a choice between agreeing to the modifications, and if they are not correct, it will tell you what kind of problem you created, whether it is weapons that are not compatible with the reactor level or any other problem. You have to solve it and then confirm the new changes to get it.
This was all about building spaceships in Starfield. You can delve deeper into building ships than just modifying them to increase their efficiency, and with Starfield it comes to formal modifications to all parts of the ship and even its internal parts! All you have to do is learn it.
