In the UK, where before rabbits helped discover rare artifacts, near the seaside town of Scarborough archaeologists found the ruins of a villa and baths from the times of the Roman Empire.
About it informs edition of The Yorkshire Post.
Scientists have unearthed a whole complex of buildings, including a circular central room, several halls leading to it, as well as baths. According to archaeologists, this luxurious villa could have been used by members of the aristocracy or used for religious rituals.
According to experts, this is one of the most “fantastic finds” that have ever been found in the country: villas with this type of planning have never been seen in Great Britain, and, according to experts, throughout the former Roman Empire, whose borders stretched from England in Western Asia.
“We never dreamed of finding something like this on this place. These ruins allow us to better imagine what Great Britain was like during the Roman Empire,” – said the expert on ancient monuments Keith Emerick.
It is noted that archaeologists will continue to research this place. They will try to establish why this mysterious building was erected so far from other Roman centers.
As “Apostrophe” reported, Iranian archaeologists during excavations discovered fragment of the royal memorial text of the king of Assyria Sargon II.
