The reissue of the fully remastered album released in the United States in 1966 is available this Friday on all digital platforms. “My credo”; “Angry Paris”; “A man and a woman” … appear on this historic album as well as several new tracks in Europe like “Something wonderful” released in the United States.
55 years of career and 1,200 songs in his repertoire
Mireille Mathieu was keen on this musical and recording project to celebrate her 55 years of career international, while the star has not returned to the stage since March: “I stopped singing on March 12th, I was arriving from Prague. I returned home, I put my luggage and the next day, nothing. The streets were empty because of the lockdown … it was unreal.”
Mireille confined to Avignon for the Christmas holidays
This Christmas “not like the others“, Mireille is preparing to live it surrounded by her brothers and sisters in Avignon but in strict compliance with the health rules in force.
In the interview she gave to Daniel Morin, the interpreter 1,200 songs looks back on the release of this historic album which marked the start of her long career, on the forced shutdown of the cultural world, on her life as an artist confined to Avignon and on these end-of-year celebrations that she wishes despite all “bright, full of hope and love“for all the people of Vaucluse and for all its fans, from here and elsewhere.
This is one of Mireille Mathieu’s last public outings in Avignon when she took control of the Grand Avignon Tramway on the day of its inauguration at the end of 2019. Hundreds of admirers had made the trip to approach the singer, La Demoiselle d’Avignon.
