The police file a formal complaint against the mother of the two minors who were found stabbed to death last Saturday in a shelter in the Bronx.
It concerns 22-year-old Dimon Fleming was charged with two counts of murder, intent to commit manslaughter and manslaughter, and depraved contempt for a person under the age of 11.
According to the police, it all happened on Saturday, November 26, around half past seven in the afternoon, when uniformed officers answered a phone call about an emotionally disturbed person at 246 Echo Place.
Upon arrival at the Echo Place family shelter, located in the Mount Hope neighborhood, officers observed a naked 22-year-old woman behaving erratically.
Rescuers intervened and transported the woman to the Saint Barnabas hospital for a psychological evaluation.
Around eight in the evening they received another call from the same place, this time referring to an assault.
It was there they found the children: an 11-month-old and a 3-year-old, with no signs of life, in the apartment with multiple stab wounds to the body. Emergency services transported both children to NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where they pronounced them dead.
