An electric bus assembly plant will be set up this year in Quitoin the Turubamba industrial park, south of the city.
With an initial investment of USD 20 million, the plant will employ 400 people.
The investment is part of an agreement between the Taiwanese company Tron Energy Technology Corporationfounded in 2011, with its own factories to produce customized battery packs, electric and autonomous buses and other electric cars, and the K.Kraaee Grouporiginating from Taiwanbut with offices in Ecuador.
The two companies will found the company Tron K.Kraaee Technologieswith expectations of expansion towards Latin Americamostly the Andean countries.
Production will begin in June this year. The first demo bus will be shown in September. All buses will be ‘made in Ecuador‘, he commented Richard HuangPresident of Tron Energy.
