A company pays you to test extremely hot sauces

Could this be the job of the year? In the United States, the lifestyle company Wishlisted has posted an announcement because it is looking for its future… “official hot sauce tester”, reports Slate this Sunday according to a story spotted on NewsWeek​​​​​​​. An unusual experience that could delight thrill seekers who above all have strong taste buds.

A survival kit

The ideal candidate is described as “a brave individual who will put their taste buds to the test and become a hot sauce sommelier, spiciness expert and Scoville scale expert.” The latter was invented in 1912 to classify the different potencies of peppers. And it’s not a joke, it’s a job. After tasting a variety of hot sauces, the tester will have to rate and describe each product then fill out a questionnaire and indicate their preferences.

This job is paid 500 dollars (about 448 euros). Applications must be submitted before Monday at midnight. You must be at least 18 years old to apply. The new designated “hot sauce sommelier” will then be given seven bottles of different products to try and analyze. To carry out his mission, he will also be given a “survival kit” which includes milk and tissues. Good luck !
