It is the first manufacturing company in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean to obtain this certification.

The Concilivi certification aims to recognize companies that adopt work / family reconciliation measures and promote them in their corporate culture.

“We already had most of the family / work conciliation measures, we were already practicing them internally. This seal allows us to present them in a way that our employees know them better and can use them wisely in every moment of their life when they need them, ”explained Julie Roy, vice president of corporate services for the Canmec Group.

The Canmec Group has benefited from subsidies from the Ministère de la Famille in the amount of approximately $ 30,000 for each of its divisions. These amounts allowed the company to further develop current measures and introduce others.

“We have a flexible schedule for our employees, so it allows them to complete the week in four and a half days. Our employees can work from home three days a week. And we donate one volunteer day per employee. They can do volunteer work paid for by Canmec in an organization they care about, “she added.

Labor shortages affect all walks of life and manufacturing is no exception. The balance between work and family certainly allows you to preserve the staff on site and to be more attractive to future employees.

“It is certain that when we interview the new candidates, they really appreciate the measures we have proposed. It is also to make these measures known to our people that they are currently in place so that they can use them properly, ”explained Ms Roy.

Measures that make a difference for Benoit Perron, father of three children, including little Liana, who has Down syndrome.

“It is certain that he requires more care because he is not a normal child, they are not the same reactions. There are many medical checkups, various school appointments. The employer has always cooperated and the employer has always been open. It’s one less stress on my shoulders, ”admitted Benoit Perron, Canmec’s welder and fitter.

“We also have children who take care of their parents, it is important to have a panoply of measures that respond to all aspects of family life,” added Julie Roy.

Canmec has also created a family / work conciliation committee made up of employees from all departments.

“This committee worked very hard to put the Charter of Measures in place, so everything listed what we were already doing and also created new ones. Here we have all generations and all styles, so it takes measures that speak a little to everyone. We think that by helping them to reconcile all aspects of their life, it makes people balanced, motivated at work and committed to us, ”she concluded.
