The Law on Assistance to Psychiatric Patients provides for the establishment of a commission to “regulate the exercise of the profession of psychotherapist for non-psychiatrists”, with the following specializations:
1) Establish standards and requirements for practicing psychotherapy for non-psychiatrists.
2) Determine the training paths necessary for the practice of the profession for non-psychiatrists.
3) Investigate a licensed therapist who violates the provisions of this law or the standards or ethics of the practice of the profession.
4) Formation of disciplinary councils.
The committee has a technical secretariat, to be set up by decision of the competent Minister for Health and Population, to receive applications for licenses or their renewal.
The Psychiatric Patient Care Act specifies the punishment of a psychiatrist in case he commits a violation by diagnosing or treating diseases or undertaking any organic treatment, which only doctors can practice, or by examining the patient’s body or by writing medical prescriptions or medicines for he.
