Marcins Viha (COM)Marcin Wicha, 1972) – Polish artist, author of essays and children’s books. About the book Things I don’t throw In 2018, he received the most important literary award in Poland Nīke, awarded annually to one author, as well as the Vitold Gombrovich Prize. In 2019, Marchin Viha participated point festival prose readings in Riga. The main character has to re-establish a relationship with a person who has only a pile of books left to read and whose image in his memories is not unambiguously sunny – with his mother. The collection of essays has been translated from Polish by Ingmar Balode, the design has been created by Kaspars Murelis.

Disobedient to manipulation, sensitive to words, without the possibility of surrendering in battle, a brave woman – that was his mother. Respecting her mother’s hate sentimentality, the author avoids it in a very personal story, but without shame leaves a special tenderness with which to try to understand the fate of the closest person, because in the end it is also a story about the promised, slow life of the post-war generation. Ingmar Balode (1981) – poet and translator, award-winning translator of 20th and 21st century Polish poetry and prose. In the Latvian translation of Ingmara Balode, such notable Polish authors as Jaroslav Ivaškevičs, Česlavs Miloš, Adam Zagayevsky, Hanna Krāla, Mikolajs Ložiņskis (Book; Attic, 2013), Dorota Maslovska, Slavomir Mrožek and others. Ingmara Balode also translates from Czech, Slovak, Slovenian, Macedonian and English.
