A collection center has opened in Colomiers

Since Tuesday, the Colomiers Town Hall has been in the colors of Ukraine and two Ukrainian flags have been flying on its facade.

This Saturday, March 5 at 11:45 a.m., the city of Colomiers will underline its attachment to the values of democracy, mutual respect and peace, by organizing a large gathering in Place Alex-Raymond, symbolically renamed Place Maïdan for the occasion.

“In this context, it seems essential to us to mobilize to provide assistance to the victims by meeting the needs of humanitarian organizations and to coordinate the outpourings of generosity of the inhabitants and professionals of the territory”, adds Karine Traval-Michelet, mayor and vice-president of Toulouse Métropole.

A Ukraine solidarity collection center now collects donations from Columérins, avenue Yves-Brunaud, at the Capitany sports complex (ex-Covid-19 vaccination center, put on hold on February 26).

This center will be open Wednesdays and Fridays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

So that the collection meets the needs of humanitarian organizations, the Civil Protection has drawn up a precise list of supplies: logistics (camp beds, sleeping bags, survival blankets, extension cords, projectors, generators), warm clothing only, all products sanitary napkins, diapers and sanitary napkins, infant formula, non-expired medicines, and emergency and medical equipment (single-use gloves, surgical masks, suture materials, medical gowns, elastic bandages, tourniquets, blood glucose meters, haemostatic dressings, dressings, antiseptic solutions, respirators, defibrillators, monitors, etc.)

The Ukraine Solidarity Collection Center will be coordinated by municipal staff, with the participation of Columérin volunteers. “The war in Ukraine invites us to anticipate the creation of a “citizen reserve”, initially planned for the summer of 2022”, specifies Arnaud Simion, pilot of the operation of the collection center.
