A coach at Paris Saint-Germain’s training academy is facing allegations of inappropriate behaviour with minors. The 27-year-old instructor was referred to the criminal court of Versailles for alleged abuse of youngsters and immediately dismissed from the Parisian training centre.
The coach’s alleged practices, as described by the cited source, ranged from kissing on the neck, offering massages or asking for his feet to be licked, to requesting videos with sexual content from teenagers between 14 and 16 years old. The coach’s behavior alerted the club authorities and the courts.
According to French media, several internal reports had been sent alleging the employee’s excessive closeness to his students. He was initially reprimanded and then suspended, until he was finally removed from the institution.
On 16 September, the teacher was arrested in police custody. During questioning, he partially admitted the charges against him, although he denied having kissed one of the young footballers on the neck. He was subsequently brought before the Versailles public prosecutor’s office and placed under judicial supervision pending his trial for child abuse, scheduled for 31 January.
Paris Saint-Germain reacted quickly to the complaint. According to the club itself, as soon as the directors became aware of the situation, they immediately took all the appropriate measures. The instructor involved was immediately dismissed and the competent authorities were alerted without delay so that they could deal with the case quickly. “Safeguarding the integrity of young athletes has been and continues to be an unquestionable priority for the institution,” the French club stressed, as reported to the portals of the capital of the European country.
This new and sensitive scandal adds to the one the club has with Kylian Mbappé over money that the striker is demanding from the club. The footballer’s entourage has decided to take an active stance in the face of the financial dispute he has with his former club, over a debt of 55 million euros. The striker has resorted to legal proceedings through the French Professional Football League (LFP) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), through the French Football Federation (FFF).
Since his contract with PSG ended about two months ago, Mbappé has claimed a multimillion-euro sum corresponding to various financial items that he claims have not been paid to him. This amount includes, among other items, the last third of a €36 million signing bonus he should have received in February, as well as his salaries for April, May and June, and an ethics bonus relating to the same period.
Last week, the legal commission issued a resolution urging PSG to make the payment. Although everything seems to indicate that Mbappé will have to resort to the courts if they do not reach an amicable agreement.
