a cluster in an Ehpad in Dordogne, Gironde in “moderate vulnerability”

Three residents of a Dordogne nursing home tested positive for coronavirus, classifying the establishment in the category of “epidemic foci”, or clusters. In addition, the Gironde department has been classified as “moderate vulnerability” by Santé publique France.

Three residents of the Henri Frugier nursing home, located in the town of Coquille in the north of the Dordogne, tested positive for coronavirus.
The discovery of a first case in the establishment, on July 3, resulted in the screening of all residents and staff, i.e. 147 people. The three people tested positive were placed in solitary confinement in a dedicated Covid-19 sector within the nursing home, specifies the Regional Health Agency.

Residents tested negative can continue to receive their loved ones, outside the building, with a strict application of barrier gestures, continues the ARS.
These new cases rekindle concern, after the establishment had already been affected by the virus in April.

“Quivering” of indicators

In France, the number of deaths since July 10 has exceeded 30,000. In total, more than 170 people have tested positive, including 39,526 in nursing homes and medico-social establishments.
In New Aquitaine, on the same date – the figures not being updated on weekends, there were 65 hospitalizations for Covid-19, and three clusters in Corrèze, Gironde and Landes.

“Since the beginning of July, tremors in the indicators have been observed”, noted the ARS in a press release. The Regional Health Agency specified in particular that the slackening of behavior, the regrouping between friends, family or festive meetings or even the arrival of vacationers were “as many risk factors for recovery “.

The Gironde in moderate vulnerability

The incidence rate in Gironde was, on July 10, 1.5 new cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants. However, the French Public Health Agency also classified the Gironde as a department in a situation of moderate vulnerability, just like Mayenne. Guyana and Mayotte are in a situation of high vulnerability. This classification is issued from “indicators produced and reports received, including cluster investigations”, according to Santé Publique France.
In the department, the number of positive cases increased from 47 for the last week in June to 82 for the first week in July.
These incidence rates are 1.0 in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, 4.6 in the Landes, 1.0 in the Dordogne and 0 in the Lot-et-Garonne.
