Some ‘fast-food’ experts
When Manuel Berja raised the shutters of El Pibe 50 years ago, The term ‘fast-food’ did not yet exist in the vocabulary of the majority of the Barcelona population (much less Catalan). Berja started the business as a neighborhood place where you could enjoy a delicious sausage sandwich and a beer with your friends or family. The initial menu was simple; It only included seven types of snacks -like frankfurters at 18 pesetas, now equivalent to about 10 cents- and craft beers. With this proposal, El Pibe became one of the first fast food take aways in Barcelona.
