a Clapiers start-up invents the pocket telescope

Vaonia is a company created in 2016 in Clapiers (Hérault) by Cyril Dupuy, an engineer passionate about the stars. In 2018, the young shoot imagined Stellina, a telescope controlled with a tablet or smartphone and which allows the general public to observe the sky and take pictures of it. It has just released a mini version called Vespera which is lighter and above all more accessible (less than 1,500 euros against nearly 4,000 euros for Stellina).

“It’s a new way of looking at the sky. Until now we all had the image of the traditional telescope with which we look when we close one eye.”

People are often disappointed because we have black and white images with little detail. Our instrument is revolutionary because it embeds a light sensor that will allow you to see color images with lots of details on a tablet, which makes more user-friendly sky observation“, explains Cyril Dupuy the founder of Vaonis

Stellina is available for sale in many stores around the world, however Vespera is only for pre-order with a discount of 500 euros. For delivery, we will have to wait until Christmas 2021. Vaonis has launched a crowdfunding campaign and has already raised more than 1.2 million euros. Vaonis, which has fifteen employees, is also recruiting different profiles for its development.

Every morning at 7.15 am, France Bleu Hérault analyzes the conditions for resuming activity as closely as possible to the realities of those who are recovering. Craftsmen, traders, entrepreneurs testify from Monday to Friday. “Here we are talking about here”
