A Christmas tree has arrived on the Old Town Square in Prague

At midnight, a truck with a loaded tree left the area in Průmyslová Street, where it was transported after jumping on Sunday night. Around half past one in the morning, the almost 30-meter colossus arrived at the Old Town Square.

For the next two hours, it took the tree to erect and settle in the prepared hole, which was greatly aided by the crane.

The tree on the Old Town Square traveled this time from the Jizera Mountains. It took two hours to remove him from the trailer and stand up on Tuesday night.

The Prague tree was donated by the Kozdersk family, whose land in Dolní Černá Studnice in the Jablonec region grew. He would go to the ground anyway because he threatened neighboring properties.

“We chose from 35 trees, this one won due to its shape and rich branching, but I was reluctant for a long time before we gave our thumbs up to undergo such a demanding operation in terms of logistics. From the beginning, he was the main favorite, the other trees were near Česká Lípa and Šumava, but this one simply won despite his difficult position, ”Tomáš Jílek, Chairman of the Board of Technology of the Capital City of Prague, told reporters.

The tree was secured by a crane during felling.

Due to the growing pandemic, Prague once again canceled the ceremonial lighting of the tree, which was traditionally visited by tens of thousands of people in the Old Town Square. “Advent is above all waiting for birth. Let’s not allow the dozens of ICUs to turn into their opposite, ”the city management explained.

Last year, the tree lit up a day earlier than planned during Friday’s scheduled technical test, after which it remained lit for the rest of Advent.
