Side by side, the graves contained them as they were before the violent earthquake that struck the regions of northwestern Syria.

After they fell asleep on their beds as a result of the devastating earthquake that struck their areas at dawn on Monday, here are the victims of the town of Jenderes in the countryside of Afrin, north of Aleppo Governorate, who are also bidding farewell to their final resting place, accompanied by some of them.

In a video clip published by the Civil Defense Forces in Syria via its Twitter account, on Wednesday, footage of the digging of graves to bury the earthquake victims in Aleppo appeared.

The comments unanimously agreed that what appears in the clip is chilling scenes.

It is noteworthy that the rescue teams are racing against time in search of survivors in the aftermath of the powerful earthquake that has claimed the lives of more than 13,000 people so far in Turkey and Syria.

More than 2,100 people died and 3,640 others were injured, according to the Syrian authorities and aid workers in areas under the control of the opposition factions in Syria, after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Turkey and neighboring Syria early Monday morning, destroying thousands of buildings and leaving thousands injured and homeless.

The World Health Organization said it expected the worst and feared that “the toll could be eight times higher than the first figures” published.
