A charge of openness in Kronberg’s poetry. Guntars Godins / Article tells about the collection “God shifts furniture in heaven”

“The power of autumn fruits creeps into me / together with the sun’s juices / the last days of summer / dark clouds on the horizon / in the sky the god moves furniture” – wrote the poet Juris Kronbergs. The last line of poetry seemed to the poet and translator Guntars Godins to be apt and valid for the title of Juris Kronbergs’ collection of posthumous poetry. And on the very day described in these lines, the book has experienced an opening celebration.

Juris Kronbergs was a unique phenomenon in Riga, Stockholm, New York, London and elsewhere. Chronberg jokes, word games often removed stress from tense situations. A diplomat was born. This is what Guntars Godins writes about the poet who was called to eternity last year.

LTV meets with the poet and translator Guntars Godiņš only a few hours before the opening event of the poetry collection of his friend, like-minded person and colleague Juris Kronbergs. He wore a blue shirt in honor of the event, which was Kronberg’s “brand”. That is why the newly published collection of poetry in Finnish blue tones.

“It is very gratifying that a book of poems was received and published, which was simply forwarded to me by Juris’ wife Māra Rozīte, [viņa] there also took part in the selection a bit, and then I got a rather large block of poems, from which I also started to make the book, ”says Guntars Godiņš. “A little correction, but I had a hard time doing it because I’d like to ask Juris if he wanted to, but because we were pretty familiar and he somehow trusted me in editing other books, I got upset and did it.”

“God Moves Furniture in Heaven” is Kronberg’s 16th collection of poetry, inspired by the poet’s eternity. Honor for this issue writes –

“I think that in this, especially in the third part, it’s a charge of openness, in others he may still be playing and shouting, but on the horizon he feels something, and there is no banality there, but it is rather the psychology of this man, knowing that maybe soon she will be gone. It rarely happens to poets, and that’s why I mention it, because these poems are also worked out purely poetically, ”says Godiņš.

“We have been together for a long time since the Awakening, when we first met, his book of poems was presented to me by a Finn, but physically we met during the Awakening, then there were more conversations, but later there was very close cooperation with texts, I edited both Jura’s texts and we used Skype to cool a lot of Swedish books. “

“Juris always has a turning point – time. Time is his image. Vilks Vienacis is also related to time, and there are already two here – Vilks Vienacis, where there are already new cycles, and this time, which he constantly wrote, ”Godiņš continues.

There is still a lot of unpublished material and legacy left by Kronberg, so others could follow this book. It is also planned to publish Kronberg’s correspondence.
