a centenarian escaped Covid-19 in an nursing home hard hit by the virus

Léa Lavy, 105, escaped Covid-19 during the second wave. The centenarian, dean of her nursing home in Annecy, did not show any symptoms of the virus.

The dean of a nursing home in Annecy (Haute-Savoie), aged 105, had Covid-19 in mild form this fall and survived it. The establishment in which she has resided for a few months has yet been severely affected by the second epidemic wave, confides the director of the Parmelan Foundation nursing home, confirming information from the Dauphiné Liberated.

“One hundred and nine of our 185 residents had it – almost 60% – and we deplored 33 deaths”, according to director Stéphane Richard. Not considering “30% of employees, including me, were affected, we were really in difficulty, we lacked staff. Between October 22 and for 15 days it was very difficult”, he adds.

Birthday party

“Our dean, Léa Lavy, celebrated her 105th birthday on Thursday, December 10, says Stéphane Richard. We had a little event with his daughter-in-law, to mark the occasion. ” “He was offered a bouquet of flowers and the president of the foundation came, with some caregivers, into the living room, wearing the mask and without sharing a cake”, barrier gestures oblige, adds Stéphane Richard.

The centenarian has tested positive for the coronavirus but has not shown symptoms, reports her family in the regional daily. “If we ask her if she’s been sick, she’ll say no! Her body has responded well. She’s a fit lady and a woman with character, very charming. But we don’t tell her!”, adds the director. “It scares me a little bit”, however conceded the interested party to Dauphiné Libéré, specifying that she was still living recently in her house in Annecy, close to the pontoons of a rowing club founded by the family.
