Krefeld / Mönchengladbach. The festive opera gala “Viva Belcanto” offers gorgeous singing techniques and enchanting melodies.
For many years, highlights from various operas and operettas have been presented in the popular Festive Opera Gala, and mostly new talents have also been presented. Each gala has a specific motto that runs like a red thread through the entire evening. This year the promising title is “Viva Belcanto!” But regardless of that, the gala is always a good remedy for the winter blues, as it always offers wonderful catchy tunes that make you forget the often gray everyday life.
No singing technique manages better to entice the opera audience to storms of enthusiasm than the virtuoso coloratura technique of “bel canto”, “beautiful song”. Cascades at the highest heights, fulminant, rapid tempos and insane garlands of decoration show what an opera voice can do and create goosebumps and ecstasy in the audience. This sporty and highly emotional art of singing, which experienced its heyday in the early 19th century, does not leave the audience of the 21st century indifferent. Belcanto highlights are at the center of the opera gala, which will be presented on December 18 in Krefeld and on December 19 in Mönchengladbach.
The music theater ensemble, the Niederrhein Opera Studio, the Opera Choir and the Niederrhein Symphony Orchestra perform well-known arias, ensembles and choirs from operas by Vincenzo Bellini, Gaëtano Donizetti, Gioacchino Rossini and the early Giuseppe Verdi.
The new 1st Kapellmeister Yorgos Ziavras takes over the musical direction of this gala, General Director Michael Grosse leads the program as moderator.
